The newest entry to satisfy my tool acquisition cravings is this plane that I somehow could not do without. The princely sum of 99c was OK by me too.
The plane wasn’t in the worst condition. Some discoloration on the sides and sole. The blade was rusty too.
I flattened the sole on some sandpaper on a granite tile, sanded the sides and sanded the rust out of the blade. I then free-hand honed the blade.
Putting it all back together I managed to get it to make some shavings.
Here it is next to its larger sibling, a Stanley No. 4
Evidently, what I picked up is a Marx miniature plane made in the 60s as a toy. 3″ long overall.
Supercute, as they say.
