Basement remodel

 

This basement was in need of some changes.The client’s basement had a toilet in plain view next to the drain of a former shower. Evidently, some privacy was in order.

I started by removing the old laundry sink:

Toilet to remain. Plan is to frame around soil stack:

Rough layout with new vanity:

Removing old shower drain:

New plumbing for vanity:

Installing vent pipes etc:

Installing laundry sink, finishing plumbing and framing room:

Supply pipe install and pressure test:

Drywalling, installing ceiling tiles and floor tiles:

Tiles as installed prior to grouting:

Installing ceiling tiles, nailing trim, installing vanity and painting:

In another location in the basement, shelving was needed.

Measuring and designing:

First design with open shelves and a hutch for a record player:

Design 2 with standard basement cabinets:

Last option was chosen. Custom built cabinets with full height doors:

Framing the wall:

Replacing electrical circuitry:

Building cabinets in place:

Staining oak for face-frames:

Then nail on the face-frame, stain and hang doors and install a countertop:
